The Rainscale society of dragonborn believe that the path of Io, the blending of many things into a whole, is a risk not worth taking. Their defiance of traditional dragonborn worship is looked down upon by the rest of their race but they believe the blending of superior entities, such as dragonborn who fear nothing, with inferior ones, such as dragonborn who fear war and bloodshed like the Redwings, lowers the esteem of what could be a more noble race.
Their hostility toward other races is notorious but has not resulted in widespread bloodshed or violence – yet. Conditions of peace and civility hang by a very thin thread. Some speculate the Rainscale are conspiring to instigate a war with other races but limited interactions with the society prevent most others from having a basis for this opinion.
The Rainscale view Io as “ignorant” in his wisdom. Instead, they respect Tiamat. Despite her significance as an evil presence in the Races of the Dragon myth, the Rainscale view her as the voice of reason. They see the figure of Bahamut as weaker, less straightforward and less deserving of victory.
