East Ferris Fairgrounds
Every month in East Ferris the town has a fair where people from all over Vidal come to socialize and try the latest pies and wines from the local market. Originally, the tradition began when West Ferris, their sister town, put on a carnival it claimed to be “the biggest in the land.” Not to be outdone, East Ferris put together a carnival of their own. The lords of each town became friendly rivals and the towns’ reputations went from being quiet farmlands to boisterous party people. Toward the end of each month, the Vidal Note would send out an issue detailing the events taking place at each town’s fair but one day they reported there were no more parties planned in West Ferris.
East Ferris were declared unofficial victors of the ‘party war’ and now thrill-seekers come in droves to see what the latest games and amusements are. Little is known of why West Ferris has discontinued the tradition of competing fairs.
